Black Folks Make Movies (BFMM) and the University of Cincinnati, Center for Film and Media Studies (UC-CFMS) proudly presents, Fade2Black (F2B) Film Festival: A Retrospective Celebration of Black American Cinema Dating Back From 1910 to Today. BFMM & UC-CFMS will feature an educational yet fun film festival at U.C. on October 12th - 14th, 2017.
This is the first time that a film festival of this stature will be brought to our home, here in the Queen City of Cincinnati!
F2B is a contextual chronicle of the Black experience and its century plus struggle to visually and aurally define its image on film from an "Afrocentric" perspective.
F2B features a wide array of film and media juggernauts. This list includes: actor, filmmaker, political activist, Danny Glover whom we are honored to have as a guest host for this inaugural film festival; award winning filmmaker and soon to be Honorary Oscar recipient, Charles Burnett; the multitalented LA based producer, director and screenwriter, Carol Munday Lawrence; noted award winning LA producer, director, TV & Radio Personality, Tanya Hart; award winning filmmaker & Director of Photography, Bestor Cram (of Northern Light Productions, Boston); noted film historian, researcher & scholar, Dr. V. Paul Deare; outstanding Atlanta based filmmaker Patrick James Thomas as well as Cincinnati’s own, Film Critic, T.T. Stern-Enzi.
Additional Sponsorship/Support includes Xavier University Department of Arts and Sciences; U.C.'s African American Culture and Resource Center; Cinema Sol Productions and more.
Please join us during this two and a half day event, where you will meet a community of film buffs, lovers of art, culture and so much more during this film festival which fosters education through celebration and the empowerment of our history. For Black history is everyone's history.
