Xavier University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio is recruiting an Associate Dean for Curriculum, Assessment, and Quality. In addition to curriculum design and implementation, and student assessment, the Associate Dean will be experienced in educational continuous quality improvement and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will have experience as a medical school department chair or as an assistant dean. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all aspects of the pre-clinical curriculum (years 1 and 2) in the planned DO medical program.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Office of Medical Education within the College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean’s Office, including supervising staff in carrying out all administrative duties related to curriculum planning, implementation, mapping, and assessment.
  • Manage all aspects of student assessment that provide a valid review of both medical knowledge and clinical skill competencies/EPAs across all four years of the curriculum.
  • Assist in creating, finalizing, and implementing new College of Osteopathic Medicine policies and be responsible for maintaining and updating all COM’s policies as required to assure COCA compliance.
  • Responsible for credentialing all faculty involved in student education in the 1st and 2nd year. Coordinate with the Associate Dean for Clinical Education the credentialing of preceptor and adjunct faculty during the 3rd and 4th years.
  • Coordinate and review student, faculty, and course evaluations to improve ultimate quality of the student learning experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. is required
  • 10 years of experience working within a medical school environment with involvement in curriculum planning/mapping/review and student/course assessment
  • Leadership/management experience required at the level of a medical school department chair or assistant dean
  • Financial/budgetary oversight experience is preferred
  • Experience with COCA accreditation preferred
  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) skills, analytical skills, and project/process management skills
  • Ability to proactively identify key issues and trends in health professions education that may impact the College
